The exterior and grounds of this hotel are really beautiful and extensive to walk around with the dog. There are ravens at the water tower which was interesting and I really loved how they lit up all the spooky trees around the grounds. It would be perfect for an older couple wanting to stay somewhere in beautiful countryside but not too difficult or far to walk. We enjoyed the lovely Country Park too where there at lots of mature trees and birds. The location is also excellent for other more challenging walking places such as croft quarry and we also went to Bradgate Country Park which is an awesome landscape with all kinds of deer including red deer and also good for birds. For the price we didn't expect much and the room was basic which is expected with a dog, so we were pleasantly surprised by how lovely the location is. There are some really nice cafes in the historic little town nearby like maison rose which we'd thoroughly recommend. We only stayed as we wanted a couple of days somewhere different but not too far from Cambs, so we're pleasantly surprised by what Leicestershire has to offer. The pool is also a bonus, you do have to pay about 4 quid as its a separate business across the gardens but well worth it and you can have massages etc if you like. The interior of the hotel is less grand but functional and nice, the exterior looks great as it is set up for weddings, we were quite impressed by how well kept it all was. We came in the Autumn and quite enjoyed the spooky vibes of the tower and grounds, but would definitely come back again in summer.

The hotel is in a wonderful building with lovely grounds for walks after dinner. Staff are friendly but often overburdened and some are not sure of various practises. The buffet style dinner is affordable and tasty. The spa facilities are great and a real asset to the hotel. Bed are pretty comfy though could easily fit queen beds in those big rooms rather than little double beds which would give a much better nights sleep. Everything did feel clean which was nice and staff were friendly and as helpful as they could be according to their knowledge. Hotel seems to be well located and we saw lots of interesting things in the area over the couple of days we were there. Very child friendly.

The room was absolutely fine. We had a great view. It was a mother and daughter trip so we did spend a lot of time in the pool which was great. The only downside was the evening meal that we had on our last night £17.99 per person we had only an hour as there wasn’t many people booked in, the food was not good at all very dry. The starters didn’t seem to make sense for example there was pate but nothing to put the pate on, the desserts were totally dry and inedible, we definitely wouldn’t be eating at the restaurant again, which is unfortunate as it is convenient that it’s there but it was a letdown.

Large comfortable room, everywhere very tidy. I had a good nights sleep and the shower was excellent. Went for their evening meal and breakfast package, and whilst I did not expect much for this I really was very pleasantly surprised. As a stopover on business it worked well. The place was rammed, and behind the smiles the staff were clearly a little too few in number and working their socks off, but it worked, it worked really well and I enjoyed my stay. I had seen reviews stating the food wasn't great, but at this price point what do you expect- it is genuinely superb value

The location is lovely. We got a good deal on booking.com, so it was good value for us. It was great for a local relaxing date weekend away. The hotel is lovely and clean, but there are clear signs of ageing decor and disrepair in the rooms. However we had the pleasure of seeing the hotel busy with a wedding during our stay and I found that the staff were excellent, handling hotel guests as well as wedding guests very well. They balanced the comfort of guests by ensuring that music was well controlled to allow everyone to enjoy the stay. We will return again.
